Budapest was a destination that really intrigued me, because I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. I had heard about the nightlife… and the nightlife, and that was about it. But between the bathhouses, government buildings, and architecture, Budapest was a joy to explore outside of its fantastic and lively nights.

The architecture was beautifully detailed and incredibly colorful, and every street corner had a different edifice to admire. The buildings and venues woven together throughout the inner-city offered spectacular color palettes and defining details. This was just the beginning. A quick stroll down the river displayed some of the historic buildings on both sides as well as one of the greatest spectacles in the world; The Parliament Building. The beauty and splendor of the Parliament Building was something that defined this city, and it helped top off the trip as a truly one of a kind adventure.

The exquisitely crafted and colored bathhouse was a one-of-a-kind venue. An experienced colleague suggested to opt for a less crowded and touristy bathhouse. I tried, but unfortunately, I was overruled, but can still say the experience was interesting, and unique to the trip and location.

The architecture and city-defining venues delivered, but the allure of the nightlife still won out in the end. Budapest really comes alive at night; the restaurants and street bars have a characteristic festive glow, even if they’re “Basic,” and if you like dancing and history, visiting one of the ruin pubs is a must. Each pub has its own unique vibe (or vibes if the venue has more than one room) to go along with its old world charm.  They certainly boast some of the most distinctive atmospheres I’ve seen anywhere in the world.

Between the constant buzz and the architectural eye candy, my intrigue was thoroughly satisfied wandering the streets of this city; and I urge anyone searching for a stimulating and defining experience to add Budapest of your list of future adventures.
